Before installing Guide for Desktop, download the installation program that is appropriate for your operating system. See Download Guide for Desktop for more information.
Once you have the Guide for Desktop installation program for your operating system, follow these instructions for either Windows or MacOS.
The following steps describe how to install and configure Guide for Desktop using an existing Guide user account (email and password).
Windows Installation Instructions
Run Guide.exe installation application. Locate the installer previously downloaded to your desktop and double-click to execute it.
Enter your Business Email. When prompted, enter the business email address previously configured for your user account. Select the Verify & Proceed button for Guide to verify if your email address is registered with an existing account.
Enter Email and Password. After your account has been verified you will be prompted to enter business email address and password and click Continue to begin the automated configuration process.
Close Installer and Verify Installation. When finished click Close Installer and you can verify successful installation by locating the F icon in your system tray.
Open any messaging application and type the test phrase "Stop being an idiot and do your job." The Fairwords Guide notifications appear in the bottom right corner of your screen. This is your verification that configuration was successful.
MacOS Installation Instructions
Install Guide.dmg application. Locate the application installation package previously downloaded to your desktop and double-click to open it and then drag the Guide Client icon onto your Applications folder.
Run Guide application. Locate the newly installed Guide app in the Applications folder. Double-click on the application to run it. You will receive a security prompt since the application was downloaded from the Internet, select Open.
Enter your Business Email. When prompted, enter the business email address previously configured for your user account. Select the Verify & Proceed button for Guide to verify if your email address is registered with an existing account.
Enter Email and Password. After your account has been verified you will be prompted to enter business email address and password and click Continue to begin the automated configuration process.
Close Installer. When finished click Close Installer.
Enable Accessibility Access. Guide will open the Accessibility Access dialog. Select
Open System Preferencesto enable accessibility features used by Fairwords Guide.Run Guide from Application folder. After accessibility preferences are saved Guide requires restarting the first time. Double-click on the application Guide Client in the Applications folder. This will start Guide.
Open any messaging application and type the test phrase "Stop being an idiot and do your job." The Fairwords Guide notifications appear in the top right corner of your screen. This is your verification that configuration was successful.
