Archive search filters reference

This article provides a reference for every filter available when searching messages in the Archive.

For Admins and Supervisors.

Overview

The Archive search panel is organized into five filter groups: Basic information, Advanced Options, Participants, Supervision, and Source. No results display until you run a search. See Search and filter messages in the Archive for the step-by-step procedure.

Behavior

Keyword or Message ID

Basic information

Free text

Matches an exact phrase and ignores surrounding symbols (for example, [marketing] behaves the same as marketing). Supports a comma-separated list of terms — matches messages containing any of the listed terms. No wildcard support today.

Date Range

Basic information

Two dates, plus a preset dropdown (for example, Today)

Limits results to messages within the selected date range.

Alerts on Messages

Advanced Options

With Alerts / Without Alerts

Multi-select. Leaving both unselected returns the same results as selecting both.

Attachments on Messages

Advanced Options

Attachment / No Attachment

Multi-select. Leaving both unselected returns the same results as selecting both.

Noise on Messages

Advanced Options

Noise / Not Noise

Multi-select. Leaving both unselected returns the same results as selecting both. Noise is a label an AI classifier applies to messages it identifies as low compliance value, such as marketing newsletters or automated notifications.

Unmapped Messages

Advanced Options

Mapped / Unmapped

Multi-select. Leaving both unselected returns the same results as selecting both. Unmapped refers to messages involving an Unmapped Participant. See What is communications mapping?

Participant Search

Participants

Type-ahead search, zero or more entries

Search for and add participants to filter by. Each match can be a specific identity (for example, one email address or Bloomberg chat ID) or a person's (All) entry, which matches every identity that person uses across all their communication channels. Each added participant gets its own direction control — limit that participant to messages they sent, messages they received, or both — and a delete icon to remove them from the list.

Matching condition

Participants

Match Any / Match All / Match Only

Controls how multiple selected participants combine. Match Any — the message involves at least one listed participant. Match All — the message involves every listed participant, and may also involve others not listed. Match Only — the message involves exclusively the listed participants, with no other people included. Only relevant when two or more participants are selected.

Supervision Group

Supervision

A single User Group, or No Specific Group

You can select one User Group at a time. A message can carry zero to many User Group tags, based on the group membership of the senders and recipients on the message. Selecting a group matches any message tagged with that group, regardless of what other groups it may also be tagged with. Messages with no group tag are visible only to Account-level Supervisors or Admins. See How message visibility works in the Archive.

Source

Source

Checkbox list of configured communication sources

Limits results to messages from the selected source(s). Leave all unchecked to search across every source configured for your account.
