Highlights of the key capabilities of Guide

Updated over a year ago

Unique in the market, MCO eComms Guide is the only technology solution that can measurably reduce the incidence of risky communications in an organization before they are sent. Through a patented approach of real-time analytics and in-the-moment notifications, employees are empowered to make better decisions in the language they use.

Desktop Notifications

While covered employees type, MCO eComms Guide is continuously analyzing language against active company policies for potential risk. If risk is detected a desktop notification appears to alert them to the risk with explanatory text describing the relevant policy with reference to company documentation and links to case studies that may reinforce the potential impact of the risk.

Desktop notifications are designed to maximize the effectiveness of encouraging employees to use lower risk language while minimizing disruption to work. On average users will see just 2 notifications per day with Fairwords Default Risk Policies.

Policy Management

Customers have the ability to create custom communication policies that are term-based lexicons, risk-specific notification text, company policy references, and case studies. Different policies may be applied to user groups enabling efficient management with the option of granular policy application.

Default Risk Policies

To enable customers to get value rapidly, MCO has bundled years of customer delivery, expert legal advice, and public domain case law to create a robust set of Default Policies. Customers may use these “as is”, disable all or part of them, or augment these with their own custom risks.

While these default policies are continually being updated, the following table contains some statistics on the current definitions.

Advanced Detection

At the core of Guide is its ability to detect risk through powerful pattern-matching rules called Terms. Each defined Term includes a rule for pattern matching, risk level, and relevant training information to the specific type of risk.

Rules provide user-friendly syntax for defining the language the system needs to monitor. These patterns include:

  • Exact matches

  • Mandatory and optional wildcards

  • Mandatory and optional text variations

  • Words in close proximity to each other

Beyond pattern-matching terms, Guide also leverages AI to detect toxic language - such as bullying and harassment.

Analytics Dashboard

While Guide for Desktop is interacting with employees to ensure they are using careful language, statistical information is being continually collected to help compliance teams assess the efficacy of existing policies.
