Microsoft Teams Chat (Teams) is a common business tool used by many companies for instant messaging. It allows direct and instant communication that integrates into other Microsoft office products to ensure enhanced productivity. In May of 2023, Microsoft hit a landmark point when it’s Teams surpassed 300 million monthly users. This widespread use makes it imperative for compliance teams to include Teams chat in its monitoring and archiving communications.

MCO eComms supports the capture of Microsoft Teams Chat that includes:

Once captured, Microsoft Teams chat may be archived and monitored per your configured policies and license limitations.

Note: Microsoft Voice and Meetings support uses a separate enterprise application recording bot.

Teams Chat Capture Overview

MCO leverages a enterprise app within Microsoft Entra to securely connect your Microsoft Teams account with your MCO eComms account. The name of this enterprise app is “MCO eComms Teams Chat Archiver”.

The MCO eComms Teams Chat Archiver leverages the Microsoft Teams Export APIs for capturing chat communications by covered employees.
