Overview
The Daily Message Totals Report provides a snapshot of message volume by communication channel for a selected date. It compares the selected date's message count to the previous week's totals for the same sources, surfacing a percentage change for each channel. Use this report to track ingestion trends, identify unexpected drops or spikes in message volume, and confirm that data capture is operating as expected across all connected sources.
Generating the Report
Navigate to Analytics > Reports in the left sidebar.
Click New Report in the upper right.
In the New Report dialog, select the following fields the click Create Report.
Field | Description |
Report Type | Select Daily Message Totals Report from the dropdown. |
User Group | Select a specific user group or leave set to All to include all monitored users. |
Message Date | Select the date for which you want to report message totals. The report will compare this date against the equivalent period from the prior week. |
The report is generated asynchronously. Status displays as Pending until processing is complete, at which point a Download link appears in the report list.
Note: If report generation fails, the status displays as Failed. Delete the failed report and regenerate, or contact support if the problem persists.
Downloading the Report
Once the status shows Download, click the link in the Download column to save the report as a CSV file.
The file is named using the format:
dailyMessagesTotals_YYYYMMDD
where the date reflects the Message Date selected at report creation.
Report Output
The CSV contains a header block followed by a data table.
Header Block
The header rows (prefixed with #) identify the report context:
Row | Description |
| The firm associated with the report. |
| Report type identifier. |
| The date, time, and user who generated the report. |
| The selected message date. |
| The user group filter applied. Displays All if no group was selected. |
Data Columns
Column | Description |
Source | The communication channel (e.g., Bloomberg, Email, Teams, WhatsApp). |
Previous Week | Total messages captured from this source during the equivalent period in the prior week. |
Selected Date | Total messages captured from this source on the selected date. |
Change | Percentage change between the previous week and the selected date. A value of -100% indicates no messages were captured on the selected date for a source that had activity in the prior period. A value of 0% may indicate either no change or no activity in either period. |
The report includes a row for every source configured for your firm. Sources with no message activity in either period will show 0 in both count columns and 0% change.
Use Cases
Ingestion monitoring: Confirm that all expected sources delivered messages on the selected date. A -100% change for an active channel may indicate a capture or connector issue requiring investigation.
Volume trending: Track week-over-week changes in message volume by channel to identify behavioral shifts or unusual activity.
Audit support: Provide evidence of ongoing message capture across channels as part of recordkeeping compliance obligations.
Permissions
Any user with access to the Reports section can generate and download the Daily Message Totals Report. User Group scope is limited to the groups the requesting user is authorized to view.
