Before you begin
Confirm your Compliance Administrator has provisioned your account for iMessage capture.
Confirm you received a FirmScribe setup email with a secure setup link.
Have your iPhone nearby and unlocked.
Confirm you know the Apple ID and password associated with your iPhone.
Confirm Messages in iCloud is enabled on your iPhone.
Complete setup from a computer when instructed by the setup email.
NOTE: MCO uses FirmScribe to capture iMessage data. FirmScribe captures supported communications and makes them available to MCO eComms for retention, monitoring, and review.
Setup overview
FirmScribe uses a one-time setup process to connect your Apple ID and iPhone for capture.
During setup, you may need to:
Open the secure setup link from your FirmScribe email.
Sign in with the Apple ID associated with your iPhone.
Approve Apple account sign-in prompts on your iPhone.
Enter the six-digit verification code shown on your iPhone.
Confirm that a device has been added to your Apple ID.
Accept the FirmScribe monitoring notice.
Confirm required iPhone settings, including text message forwarding.
Setup usually takes 5 to 10 minutes.
Open the setup email
Open the FirmScribe setup email from your administrator.
Click SET UP NOW to begin the onboarding process.
NOTE: The screenshots in this article show the general setup flow. Your screen may look slightly different depending on your device or operating system.
Sign in with your Apple ID
On the Set Up Device page, enter the Apple ID associated with your iPhone.
Enter your Apple ID password.
Review the consent statement.
Select the checkbox to confirm that you are sharing information with FirmScribe for message archiving.
Click SUBMIT.
NOTE: Apple ID sign-in may take a few minutes.
Approve the Apple sign-in request
Keep your iPhone nearby and unlocked.
Wait for an Apple Account Sign In Requested prompt on your iPhone.
Tap Allow.
Wait for the Apple Account verification code to appear on your iPhone.
Enter the verification code
On your computer, return to the FirmScribe setup page.
Enter the six-digit verification code displayed on your iPhone.
Click OK.
NOTE: If you do not see the code, check your iPhone for a popup with a map. Tap Allow and the code should appear.
Wait for account configuration
Wait while FirmScribe verifies two-factor authentication.
Keep the browser tab open.
Do not dismiss any iPhone popup related to text message forwarding.
Confirm the device added message
If your iPhone shows a notification that a device was added to your account, review the message.
Tap OK.
Complete setup in FirmScribe
When the Complete Setup screen appears, click OK.
Accept the monitoring notice
Review the FirmScribe monitoring notice.
Click I UNDERSTAND.
WARNING: Do not change your Apple ID password after setup unless instructed by your Compliance Administrator or MCO Support. Changing the password can stop monitoring.
Verify iPhone settings
On your iPhone, open Settings.
Tap Apps.
Tap Messages.
Confirm whether Text Message Forwarding appears.
On the FirmScribe setup page, answer the prompt shown on screen.
Enable text message forwarding
On your iPhone, open Settings.
Tap Apps.
Tap Messages.
Tap Text Message Forwarding.
Turn the FirmScribe forwarding option on.
Return to the FirmScribe setup page.
Click DONE.
Finish setup
Wait for the Setup Complete screen.
Close the browser tab.
Result
FirmScribe setup is complete. Supported iMessage and text message communications from your iPhone can be captured by FirmScribe and made available to MCO eComms according to your organization’s configuration and policies.
