Change the groups assigned to a user

This article shows you how to add or remove a user's user group membership. You can make this change from the user's User Profile page or from the User Group Details page.

For Admins and IT Admins. Only users with the Admin or IT Admin role can change group assignments.

NOTE: User group assignments directly affect which supervisors can see a user's messages and alerts (Supervision Purview) and which policies apply to them (Alert Detection). Review the impact before making changes.

Before you begin

  • You must have the Admin or IT Admin role.

  • The user must already exist in MCO eComms. See How to create a new user if the user has not been added yet.

Change group assignment from the User Profile page

Open the User Profile

There are two ways to reach a user's profile:

  • From the Users list: In the top navigation, click Settings. In the left panel, click Users. At the right end of the user's row, click the edit icon. The User Profile opens.

  • From any page where user names appear as links: Click the user's name. The User Profile opens.

Edit the groups

  1. On the User Profile page, scroll to the Groups section. Click Edit. The Groups dropdown becomes active.

  2. In the Groups dropdown, select or deselect groups as needed. Each checked group is assigned to the user; each unchecked group is removed.

  3. Click Save. The changes take effect immediately.

Change group membership from the User Group Details page

Use this method when you want to add or remove multiple users for a specific group at once.

  1. In the top navigation, click Settings. In the left panel, under Management, click User Groups. The Groups list opens.

  2. At the right end of the group's row, click the edit icon. The User Group Details page opens.

  3. On the User Group Details page, the Users panel on the right lists all users currently in the group. To remove a user, click Remove at the right end of their row.

  4. To add users to the group, click Add user in the top-right corner of the Users panel. The Edit group side panel opens.

  5. In the Edit group side panel, use the search bar to find users. Select the checkbox next to each user you want to add.

  6. Click Add users. The selected users are added to the group immediately.

Result

Group assignments take effect immediately after saving. The updated group membership is reflected on the User Profile and on the User Group Details page.
