Configure SMS capture for AT&T

This article shows you how to prepare the AT&T SMS provisioning details MCO needs to request SMS capture setup through TeleMessage and the carrier.

For compliance administrators and mobile program administrators.

Before you begin

  • Confirm your organization uses AT&T for the mobile numbers that need SMS capture.

  • Confirm which employees require AT&T SMS capture.

  • Confirm you have access to the TeleMessage Capture Mobile User Provisioning form provided by MCO.

  • Confirm you have the required AT&T account, billing, and user details.

  • Contact your MCO implementation representative or MCO Support if you do not have the provisioning form.

NOTE: MCO coordinates all setup with TeleMessage and the carrier.

AT&T SMS capture overview

AT&T SMS capture does not require employees to install or download an application. Employees are provisioned for AT&T SMS capture through the mobile carrier setup process.

To start setup, your organization completes the TeleMessage Capture Mobile User Provisioning form and returns it to MCO to coordinate provisioning with TeleMessage and the carrier.

Complete the account details

In the Account Details tab of the provisioning form, provide the required AT&T account and administrator information.

Description

Admin First Name

First name of the administrator responsible for your AT&T account.

Admin Last Name

Last name of the administrator responsible for your AT&T account.

Admin Primary Email Address

Email address of the administrator responsible for your AT&T account.

Admin Primary Phone Number

Phone number of the administrator responsible for your AT&T account.

AT&T Account Manager First Name

First name of the AT&T account manager who handles your account.

AT&T Account Manager Last Name

Last name of the AT&T account manager who handles your account.

AT&T Account Manager Primary Email Address

Email address of the AT&T account manager who handles your account.

AT&T Account Manager Primary Phone Number

Phone number of the AT&T account manager who handles your account.

Company Name

Company name as shown on the mobile operator phone bill.

Company Foundation Account Number

Foundation Account Number assigned by AT&T for billing purposes. This may appear as FAN on your monthly phone bill.

Company Billing Account Number(s)

Billing Account Number assigned by AT&T for billing purposes. This may appear as BAN on your monthly phone bill.=

NOTE: If all users are associated with the same BAN and FAN, enter the BAN and FAN in the Account Details tab instead of entering them for each user in the Users tab.

Complete the user details

In the Users tab of the provisioning form, provide the required information for each employee who needs AT&T SMS capture.

Field

Description

First Name

First name of the employee.

Last Name

Last name of the employee.

AT&T Mobile Phone

Employee mobile number in international mobile number format.

Email Address

Employee email address. This is passed as metadata with each archived message.

BAN#

Billing Account Number assigned by AT&T for billing purposes. This may appear as BAN on your monthly phone bill.

FAN#

Foundation Account Number assigned by AT&T for billing purposes. This may appear as FAN on your monthly phone bill.

NOTE: If the BAN and FAN are the same for all users, leave the BAN# and FAN# fields empty in the Users tab and provide this information in the Account Details tab.

Primary user

The Primary User acts as the account administrator for the TeleMessage setup. This user may be able to manage high-level user administration features and access the archive when TeleMessage Long Term Archive is selected as the archive destination.

If the request is an add-on to an existing setup, a Primary User may not be required.

Submit the provisioning form to MCO

  1. Complete the Account Details tab.

  2. Complete the Users tab for each employee who needs AT&T SMS capture.

  3. Review the form for accuracy.

  4. Send the completed form to your MCO implementation representative or MCO Support.

  5. MCO reviews the form and coordinates with capture provisioning.

NOTE: AT&T account activation typically takes 2 to 5 days after the completed form is submitted. Timing may vary based on the completeness of the provisioning details and carrier setup requirements.

Map users in MCO eComms

After provisioning is complete, users must be mapped in MCO eComms so captured AT&T SMS communications can be associated with the correct user profiles.

SMS users are typically mapped by mobile number.

  1. Sign in to MCO eComms as an administrator.

  2. Go to Settings > Users.

  3. Locate the user you need to map.

  4. Click Edit.

  5. Locate the Sources section.

  6. Click Edit in the Sources section.

  7. Click Add Source.

  8. In Source name, select the SMS source used for AT&T SMS capture.

  9. In Unique Identifier, enter the user’s mobile number.

  10. Click the check icon.

  11. Click Save.

Result

After AT&T SMS capture is provisioned and users are mapped in MCO eComms, captured SMS communications can be associated with the correct user profiles and reviewed according to your organization’s configured policies and license limitations.
