For Slack workspace administrators and MCO eComms administrators.
Before you begin
Confirm Slack API Source capture is enabled in your MCO eComms account.
Confirm you have administrator access to MCO eComms.
Confirm you have permission to install or approve applications in the Slack workspace.
Confirm which Slack workspace should be connected.
Confirm you can access the email account associated with your Slack administrator login.
NOTE: Slack may require email verification during the connection process. Keep access to your Slack administrator email account available before you begin.
Start the Slack API Source connection
Sign in to MCO eComms as an administrator.
Go to Settings > Integrations.
Locate Slack API Source.
Click Connect.
MCO eComms redirects you to Slack to authorize the MCO-Discovery-App for the selected workspace.
Review the Slack workspace
On the Slack authorization page, confirm the correct workspace is selected.
If you administer more than one Slack workspace, use the Workspace menu to select the correct workspace.
NOTE: The workspace shown on the Slack authorization page is the workspace that will be connected to MCO eComms.
Verify your Slack sign-in
Slack may ask you to verify your identity before completing authorization.
Check the email address shown on the Slack verification screen.
Open the verification email from Slack.
Enter the code in the Slack verification page, or click the button in the email to continue.
NOTE: If you do not see the email, check your spam or junk folder. You can also request a new code from the Slack verification page.
Complete the authorization
After verification, Slack returns you to the app permission screen if authorization has not already been completed.
Confirm the selected workspace is correct.
Review the permission request.
Click Allow.
NOTE: Slack displays the permissions granted to the app before authorization. These permissions are required for Slack API Source capture to access supported Slack content.
MCO eComms completes the connection after Slack authorization is approved.
Confirm the integration is connected
Return to MCO eComms.
Go to Settings > Integrations.
Locate Slack API Source.
Confirm the integration shows as connected.
Map users
Users must be mapped in MCO eComms so captured Slack communications can be associated with the correct user profiles.
Slack users are typically mapped using the identifier provided through the Slack API Source integration, such as the user’s Slack email address.
Sign in to MCO eComms as an administrator.
Go to Settings > Users.
Locate the user you need to map.
Click Edit.
Locate the Sources section.
Click Edit in the Sources section.
Click Add Source.
In Source name, select the Slack source used for Slack API Source capture.
In Unique Identifier, enter the user’s Slack identifier.
Click the check icon.
Click Save.
Message availability
Slack communications may not appear in the archive immediately after the integration is connected. Availability depends on Slack authorization, workspace permissions, user mapping, capture scope, and MCO eComms processing.
After communications are captured and mapped, they can be retained and reviewed in MCO eComms according to the policies assigned to the user.
Result
The Slack API Source integration is connected. MCO eComms can capture supported Slack communications from the authorized workspace and make them available for archival and review.
After users are mapped, captured Slack communications can be associated with the correct user profiles and reviewed according to your organization’s configured policies and license limitations.
