Audience Categorization Setup

The Audience Categorization Feature lets clients identify archived emails as internal or external communications. It also distinguishes incoming from outgoing external emails by allowing clients to input their internal email domains to determine the audience type.

The settings for this feature is located in the “Settings” tab in your “Account Defaults” in the “Internal Email Domains” section.

This section will allow you to enter domains that should be considered internal to your organization. This is the main driver of this feature. You can also add a description to help explain why a domain is considered internal if needed. This will also capture the date this domain was added and by which user. These fields are locked until the “Edit” button is selected in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

Once domains are entered emails will have a new field added that is called “Audience” to the “General Information” section of a “Message Detail”

The values that you should see are “Incoming”, “Outgoing”, and “Internal”.

  • Incoming: The sender is not a listed domain, but one or more recipients does have a listed domain.

  • Outgoing: The sender is from one of the listed domain, but one or more of the recipients are not from the listed domain.

  • Internal: All participants of this message have a listed domain.
