Email Journaling Overview

Overview of email journaling support

Email remains a primary communication channel for regulated organizations. Business decisions, approvals, attachments, and client communications often occur through email, making it an important source of electronic communications records.

Email journaling allows organizations to capture copies of inbound, outbound, and internal email messages from their mail environment and send them to MCO eComms.

Email journaling

Email journaling is the process of recording email communications from an organization’s mail system and delivering copies to a designated archive or compliance platform. Journaling helps preserve business communications outside of the live mailbox environment so they can be retained, searched, supervised, and reviewed according to company policy.

Depending on the mail platform and configuration, journaled messages can include sender and recipient details, message content, timestamps, attachments, and other metadata needed for compliance review.

Support overview

MCO eComms supports email journaling to help customers meet electronic communications compliance obligations. Journaled email messages can be transferred to MCO eComms for regulatory archival, monitoring, and risk review.

Once received, email communications can be retained and reviewed in line with the organization’s supervision, recordkeeping, and investigation requirements.
